Residential Underground Tank Removal FAQ’s

Q: An underground tank has been found on my property in NJ, am I required to remove it?

A: BTS highly recommends removing any unused tanks from your property.
Leaving an unused oil tank on your property can increase the possibility of the tank leaking into the surrounding soil and groundwater.
Having your tank removed and inspected will eliminate any environmental liabilities you could potentially encounter if your tank remained on your property.

Q: How much will it cost to remove my oil tank?

A: Oil tank removal costs vary based location and size of tank. Call Brinks Tank Services to schedule an appointment for a free  tank removal estimate.

Q: Who obtains the permits for a NJ tank removal?

A: BTS will take care of the permit process & utility mark outs necessary to proceed with the removal.

Q: Will Brinks restore my lawn / property after a tank is removed?

A: No. However, Brinks Construction is fully staffed & equipped to return your property to its pre-existing condition. Please feel free to speak to our consultants & request an estimate of construction.

Q: What if there is no leak in the tank, what’s next?

A: Brinks will move forward with the removal, we will fill the area back up with certified clean soil & will also dispose the tank for you.

Q: What if my oil tank has leaked?

A: If an oil tank leak has been detected, Brinks is required to report the leak to NJDEP and open a case number. Soil samples should also be collected and tested. Brink’s is here to work with you through the entire process until we are able to obtain an NFA {No Further Action} Letter.
